Ceramics In-Process

  1. My idea for the bowl was to make it for my mom for all the things she does for me and my family. In the top picture it the start of the bowl. It's a butterly that represents freedom, and you can lift up whoever is down. Later it's going to have the S's around the top rim of the bowl to give it a look of elegance. On the other side is going to be a heart with wings.
The second image of the cup is for my dad. The design is just there to add a some nice air to it. It's later going to have a signature on it, and a baseball because he likes baseball, he used to play it and back then we never used to have baseball. And to have it in our counrty is a good thing in history.
To make these you have to start out with a slab of clay, roll it over with a rolling pin. You have to make sure you have these sticks that make you thin out the clay to as far as you want without having it to think or think. To make a cup you cut out a piece of paper into a shape of a cylinder, place it over the clay, trace it and cut it out. For a bowl you take a shape that you want for a bowl and drape the clay over it. For the bowl you have to cut off the extra edges, and the cup you slip and score it together. You then take either of them and dry them with a hairdryer looking tool. This is the basic first part for the ceramics.
